Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) men’s senior team, Impalas will play their first match in the Cricket South Africa Rural League at Nirvana Cricket Oval on Saturday.
They will face last year’s champions, North West and the Impalas need all the support they can get.
“Having lost against North West last year away in their opening game, the Impalas is eager for defeat with the benefit of their home ground. Despite the loss to North West last year the Impalas went on a winning rampage which led to them ending second on the log at the end of last season,” LIC Club and Facilities Coordinator Sedibu Mohlaba said.
Theo Janse van Rensburg will be captaining for the second season and feels the team is better prepared than they were last year. “We have had a good pre-season. The players have been working hard and are committed to improving on the previous season,” Janse van Rensburg said.
The game will start at 09:45 and Mohlaba hopes that supporters will attend in numbers as entrance is free and cooler boxes, braai stands, camp chairs and gazebos are allowed next to the field.
