Polokwane City Football Club is hoping for a maiden victory against the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Bidvest Wits when the two meet at Bidvest Stadium in Gauteng on Sunday.
City will go into the match buoyed by their recent 1-0 victory against Super Sport United while Wits will be eyeing consolation and redemption after being defeated by Mamelodi Sundows 2-0 at Loftus Stadium on Saturday.
Club Spokesperson, Vusi Ntimane believes they have what it takes to defeat the PSL Champions. “We drew against them in the first round of the league and now we are gunning for three points. We are currently in a precarious position and we need points in order to stay afloat in the league. No team is safe in the league, you lose one game you are at the bottom of the league and we can’t afford to lose any match at this stage of the league,” Ntimane remarked.
He also mentioned that all the playing personnel will be available for selection except defender Walter Maponyane who went for a knee operation last week. “He has been injured for a while.
He won’t be playing any further this season. We wish him a speedy recovery and we hope that he will be ready and fit to play next season,” concluded Ntimane.
