A suspected injury of the hip joint and subsequent minimally invasive surgery forced ultramarathon runner Ludwick Mamabolo (41) out of the International Association of Ultra runners (IAU) 100 km World Championships that took place in Croatia last Saturday.
While the other eight members of the nine man team selected to represent South Africa were off to the event, Mamabolo underwent an arthroscopy in a local hospital for the purpose of diagnosing and treating problems of a hip joint and surrounding soft tissues.
He said he was disappointed to have missed the championships but promised his fans that he will be back running before December this year. “I am happy to be working with good professionals, I am recovering well at home and I will be back.”
