Goldwagen Noordelikes held their annual awards ceremony on Saturday evening when the best performing players and administrators were honoured for their contribution towards the success of the club.
Koning Janse van Rensburg stole the limelight as he was named Senior Player of the Year, Player of the Year, Try Scorer of the Year and the Most Watchable Player of the Year.
Team coach Fred Romijn said they wanted to boost the spirit of the players as they were about to start their preparations for the next Boet Fick League season. The club finished second on the log and intended to start training in November, he stated, and added that they were going to reinforce the squad for the team to have better chances of winning the league.
He thanked both players and administrators for their continued hard work and dedication and reiterated that he was looking forward to the new rugby season.
Award winners are:
JP Swartz – Front Player of the Year (first team).
Le Roy Ndlovu – Back Player of the Year (first team).
Juan Coetzee – Front Player of the Year (second team).
Lala Ledwaba – Back Player of the Year (second team).
Eben Verster – Back Player of the Year (third team).
Daleen Oosthuizen – Clubman of the Year.
Le Roy Ndlovu – Top Scorer of the Year.
Jonty Mans and Tony da Costa – Most Dedicated Players of the Year.
Heinrich Schoeman – Junior Player of the Year.
Osie Oosthuizen – Best administrator.
Corentia Swanevelder – Best Supporter of the Year.
Meinhard Smith – Dedicated Service to the Team.
