Lim Softball players selected for WBSC tournament

Seven softball players from teams under Limpopo Softball Association (LSA) have been included in the the national softball team that will participate at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) tournament set to take place in Botswana from Friday until Sunday.
The Limpopo squad is led by the 2017 Limpopo Sportsman of the Year, Tidima Kekana from Moletlane Texas Softball Club whose teammates Nthabi Kekana, Mohau Thupudi, Sello Molokoane and Phomolo Phaladi are also included. Other players in the squad are Nkomori Chepape and Mandla Matswenyane, both from Lebowakgomo Wild Beasts Softball Club.
Congratulating the players, executive member of LSA Benny Boshomane said their inclusion in the national team confirms the level of depth in LSA. “They will be a livewire of the national team. We are happy that the bulk of the team features players from Zebediela-based Moletlane Texas, the biggest hatchery of softball talent in the province. We are proud of them that they made it to the national setup. These are boys from humble beginnings, their call-ups to the national will also inspire young people in the province especially those who want to make it big in softball,” Boshamane said.
Mashilo Matsetela, President of Softball South Africa said the tournament will form part of the preparations for the African World Championships qualifiers to be played from 8 to 13 January next year at the Mbolekwa softball diamonds in Attridgeville, Pretoria.
“We are setting in motion our preparations for major international tournaments which are around the corner. At the moment, our technical staff and the players are fine tuning their game plans to ensure that by the time these international assignments pitch-off, both teams are mentally and physical strong.”
