South African golfer JC Ritchie won the inaugural Limpopo Golf Championship on the first playoff hole at a golf course in the Waterberg area on Sunday.
The championship organised by Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) saw Ritchie shooting four birdies and an eagle on the final day of the championship. He walked away with a floating trophy and R237 750 in cash prize.
Congratulating Ritchie, Chief Executive Officer of Limpopo Tourism Agency Nomasonto Ndlovu said: “We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate JC for being crowned champion of the inaugural Limpopo Golf Championship. Through this tournament we were not only able to raise our sport tourism profile to the world but to also position destination Limpopo as a leading tourism destination in the country. It is our wish the players come back to explore more of our many offerings.”
She went on to say: “We could have not pulled through by ourselves. We would like to thank all the sponsors and people who made this dream come through”.
