With only eight matches to go before end of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Head Coach of Baroka Football Club, Wedson Nyirenda has urged his players to play every match with the intention to win. They suffered their ninth defeat of the season following a 3-1 loss to their nemesis Polokwane City Football Club at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
The Ga-Mphahlele based side has been struggling with form and they are currently in the 13th position of the league with a meagre 21 points after 22 matches. The former Zambian national team coach wants his players to give their all in every match and refrain from conceding easy goals.
Reflecting on the match Nyirenda said: “We were nowhere there playing football because I saw my players looking so heavy and playing without a purpose. We created opportunities in the game but we could not make use of them. We are not scoring goals, we are just giving away goals and it pains so much. We are working hard at training to rectify our errors but when we come into the match scenario it is different thing altogether. Players must mature and if they cannot, you find mature players, simple. This is the PSL,” the former Kaizer Chiefs Football Cub striker stressed.
