Thohoyandou Stadium will host the trials of the seventh edition of the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona Team Search programme on 2 May.
It will be the first time the stadium hosts an event of such magnitude since its re-opening in 2017, following a four year reconstruction.
The trials will give aspiring soccer players between the ages of 18 and 23 from Venda and surrounds an opportunity to show their skills in the hope of following their dreams.
Players selected from the trials will be part of a group of 48 who will attend a series of boot camps where they will be whittled down to a final squad of 18 players.
The final team will play a fixture against the reigning Nedbank Cup champions and will be drafted to train for a month with a Premier Soccer League club, giving them the opportunity to prove their ability at the highest level.
Tutu Ntuli, Sponsorship Manager: Football Properties at Nedbank was quoted to have said: “Nedbank invests in the development of our clients’ financial future, we are also long-time investors in the future of football in South Africa through the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search. The Search however is not only about giving footballers the chance to follow their dreams, we also strive to uplift players and their communities through financial education. I urge all aspiring footballers to register for the coming try outs and wish them the best of luck we can’t wait to see what talent is unearthed in 2019.”
