Mzansi Athletics Club elects new treasurer

Mzansi Athletics Club elected Rudzani Maphaha as their treasurer during the club's annual general meeting in December.

Maphaha who was also elected as the club’s executive committee member started running for leisure in 2011 after the birth of her firstborn for health reasons, to keep fit and to lose weight. She joined Mzansi Athletics Club in 2018.

She has a financial background as she is equipped with skills in budget and financial management as well as cash flow management which are the necessary competencies required for the position of a treasurer.

In her position she will be assisting the club members, creditors, donors and sponsors of the club with finance-related members. “The most important aspect in financial management is planning, which gives a clear direction where we are going as the Mzansi Athletics Club. Planning prepares the sequence of expenditure and when to spend what and how much based on planned activities and steps to be achieved at specific time. If done effectively, it reduces unnecessary expenditure and investment to grow the club financially,” Maphaha said.

Chairperson of the club, Bilisi Rambiyana said with a person of Maphaha’s caliber at the helm the club’s financial resources are in good hands. “With the financial pressure that we are confronted with due to Covid-19 and cancellation of races, Maphaha is the right person to assist us to manage the limited resources that we have and ensure that there is no unnecessary expenditure incurred,” Bilisi said.
