PRINCE Ndlovu snatched the Limpopo provincial featherweight championship title from Sydney Maluleke after winning on a judge's decision during their eight-bout fight at the Limpopo Boxing Tournament staged in the Thohoyandou Town Hall on Saturday evening.

PRINCE Ndlovu snatched the Limpopo provincial featherweight championship title from Sydney Maluleke after winning on a judge’s decision during their eight-bout fight at the Limpopo Boxing Tournament staged in the Thohoyandou Town Hall on Saturday evening.

Maluleke’s trainer, John Tshabalala said Maluleke lost only two rounds and won the rest of the rounds.

He said he was shocked by the judge’s decision, which favoured Ndlovu.

“Sydney outclassed his opponent from round one to six. He also took the fight from round nine to 10.

“Sydney lost a fight in 2012 and he has not been fighting since,” said Tshabalala.

In another tough Limpopo provincial bantamweight title comprised of seven rounds, Klaas Mboyane knocked out Pfariso Neluvhalani by technical knockout (TKO).

It was a very difficult fight for Pfariso and he accepted the defeat. He said his legs were trembling.

“I am going back to training and look forward to more fights, because I spent two years not fighting. I was not robbed,” said Neluvhalani.

In the junior featherweight fight, Rofhiwa Nemushungwa won by TKO against Thizwilondi “Tiger” Nampandoni.

In the junior welter weight, Hamisi Guluka from Tanzania won victory over Tshifhiwa Munyai by a judge’s decision. In the catchweight fight, Vincent Mulaudzi won by TKO against the Polokwane-based young boxer, Ali Salman.

In the flyweight fight, Tswarelo Mothene won against Moloko Phela by a judge’s decision.

In another flyweight fight, Nyelisane Thagambekga beat Reuben Kadiaka by TKO. Boxing promoter, Phathutshedzo “Champ” Dongola of the Limpopo Champ Promotion said the tournament was still its baby shoes.

He said the province was returning to its history of producing champions and quality boxers. He said he was happy that the tournament was multi-cultural where boxers from all walks of life battled it out for the title.

“We want stage another tournament in August and boxers should train hard to impress.”
