Shortly after handing seven players free clearances to go and look for other clubs, Lidoda Duvha have beaten Witbank Spurs 3-1 in the Nedbank Cup and that was followed by a 2-1 away win over African Warriors on Saturday.
Black Leopards spokesperson, Barry Ramunenyiwa, confirmed that the club has handed seven players their clearances, a move, which he said, was aimed at reducing the size of their squad and to allow those players to get game time elsewhere.
“We did not sack anybody but we did tell them our plans. For now seven players will be leaving the club and with the January transfer window approaching, the number may increase,” said Ramunenyiwa before announcing that most of the players leaving the club are those aged 24 and above as the club makes way for younger players.
Although Ramunenyiwa could not be drawn into revealing the names of those on their way out of the club, CV has established that striker Brian Abbas Amidu, midfielder Sizwe Sibiya and goalkeeper Jacob Mokhasi are among those who will leave soon.
Former Lidoda Duvha goalkeeper Azwinndini Maphaha is likely to make a comeback to the club as Mokhasi’s replacement.
Leopards are lying in 10th position on the league log after 15 rounds of matches with 18 points. Their next game will be a trip to Durban to take on Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
