Nonina to face Bania in TKO-match

South Africa's female bantamweight champion, Bukiwe Nonina from Giyani, is adamant she will out-class her Ugandian counterpart, Natalia Bania, during the boxing tournament in Mafikeng on Saturday evening.

LIMPOPO – South Africa’s female bantamweight champion, Bukiwe Nonina from Giyani, is adamant she will out-class her Ugandian counterpart, Natalia Bania, during the boxing tournament in Mafikeng on Saturday evening. It will be a six-round non-title contest.

Nonina’s trainer, Emmanuel Mutavhatsindi, said the Ugandian Bania is not a closed book to them.

“We have witnessed as she lost the fight against Raider Muleba on the 15th of June this year during the launching of boxing on SABC TV in Birchwood, Ekurhuleni.

“We are ready for her and this fight will pave us a route to contest internationally.

“We need more international fights on our plans. Most of the international boxers like Bania fight the Musangwe style,” he said.

“Nonina is ready for the fight, we are camping in Gauteng and training under Manny Fernandes of BRD Promotions.

“In our recent tournament staged in the Eastern Cape, Nonina was drawn with Patience Mastar after the bout. We have worked on our mistakes and on Saturday, Bania should be beaten by a TKO.

“The challenge we face is in connection with sponsors. So far, we are thankful to Giyani Superspar for supporting us when we go out to fight,” he said.
