A record number of athletes took on three distances in the Nguni Grill Race presented by the Polokwane Athletic Club on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – A record number of athletes took on three distances in the Nguni Grill Race presented by the Polokwane Athletic Club on Saturday.

Runners from clubs such as Polokwane Athletic Club, Pietersburg Road Runners, Eskom Athletics Club, Run/Walk For Life, the South African National Defence Force and the Giyani Gallopers put on their running shoes to contest the 5 km, 10 km and 21,1 km races that started at 07:00 and also ended at Nguni Grill.

The race saw very young runners as well as some of the older runners, 60 years and up, not holding back on the day.

According to race coordinator, Christine Marais from Run Walk for Life Polokwane, the race was a huge success.

“We are very happy with the day going down without a hitch. Everybody is speaking how wonderful the day was and how much fun they had and for this we would like to thank all the participants,” Christine added.
