Modern fencing uses three weapons and is thus divided into three competitive categories: foil, sabre and épée.
Most competitive fencers choose to specialise in only one of these categories.
Competitive fencing is one of five activities which have been featured in every one of the modern Olympic Games, the other four being athletics, cycling, swimming, and gymnastics.
Limpopo will host their first ever National Rankings Fencing Tournament at the University of Limpopo from 6 to 7 December.
Fencers from all nine provinces in the country will come to compete for national rankings.
