The Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) capping ceremony saw new young cricketers receive their Limpopo colours
POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) capping ceremony saw new young cricketers receive their Limpopo colours.
The event took place at Mitchell House last Friday and was attended by special guests, Lyndon Ferns (retired Olympic gold medalist and former world record swimmer) and Cecilia Molokwane (former Protea netball player and assistant coach).
The new provincial u/13, u/16 and u/19 girls’ teams were announced and also the new u/11, u/12, u/13B, u/13A, u/15 and u/17 boys teams were announced.
The u/19 Limpopo Coke Week team was also revealed. Coke Week is Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) top cricket development programme and one of the biggest influences in the CSA development pipeline.
Coke Week is seen as a major stepping stone to a young cricketer’s career.
It is the first phase that many young men will go through in their quest for the ultimate dream of wearing the Proteas’ jersey someday.
The u/19 Coke Week team consists of: Armand Pansegrouw, Rassie Pretorius, Brenden Bezuidenhout, Morne Venter, JP Prinsloo, Aubrey van Reenan, Sahil Patel, Asad Patel, Don Radebe (captain), Tumisang Letswalo, Thabo Ledwaba, Nduvho Mphidi, Kataka Matlatjo and Stebian van der Walt (manager), Seun Mkhwanazi (assistant coach) and Dumile Skade (coach).
Each captain of the different teams received a special blazer in which to do the coin toss before each match.
John Mogodi, LIC president, and Feizal Kimmie, LIC manager, wished the players good luck for the year.
They also expressed their gratitude towards the personnel of the LIC, board of directors, high schools, primary schools, selectors, sponsors, arents and Mitchell House.
