Mohale takes the lead in Iron Crown race event

Top athletes from the province gathered at Haenertsburg to compete during the sixth annual Iron Crown Trail Run hosted by Haenertsburg Rotary Club on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – The day’s events featured a 21 km strenuous run over rough single track mountain paths which go to the summit of the Iron Crown mountain.

There was also a 10 km run and a 5 km fun run for families and their pets.

Rotary Haenertsburg was thrilled with the increase in numbers from last year’s event. The lovely weather on Saturday really helped as families and supporters created a festive atmosphere at the start and finish where food and drinks were on sale, waiting for the runners to clock in.

There were several age and gender categories for the 21 km and 10 km distances. The top three winners in each category received prizes for their hard work and dedication.

All money raised goes to Rotary’s Preserve Planet Earth environmental protection projects, and various other community projects.

All the runners and families are sincerely thanked for supporting this event, as well as the generous sponsors – without whom it would not be possible.
