SLC math whiz off to SA Olympiad

Stanford Lake College (SLC) learner, Danica Altenroxel is among the 200 learners in the country who will battle it out on the national stage at the South African Mathematics Olympiad finals

LIMPOPO – The Olympiad tests learners’ skills in a series of math tests. In March, 173 SLC learners competed in the first round of the South African Mathematics Olympiad where 26 juniors and 27 seniors qualified for the second round which took place in May.

Danica, a Gr 8 learner, passed the first test with 100%.

Only the best 100 juniors and best 100 seniors in the country qualify for the third and final round of the competition.

Stanford Lake College Marketer, Rona McGaffin, said the school would like to congratulate Danica on her achievement and wished her luck.

She further said they are confident that Danica will represent the school and the province well in the finals and hopefully she will come home with an award.

“The school is behind Danica all the way. All the participants did their best and we thank them for their effort and dedication,” McGaffin said.
