Young runner whips community into shape

In a bid to promote an active lifestyle, this road runner urges residents of Nobody to exercise more often

POLOKWANE – Twenty one-year-old member of the Pietersburg Road Runners, Emmanuel Ramohlale, recently hosted a training camp in Nobody, Ga-Mothapo to promote fitness and overall health in his community.

The training camp was open to everyone who wanted to embrace a healthier lifestyle and exercise.

“The training camp involved training twice a day, going for a jog in the morning and doing speed training later in the evening,” he explains.

“My goal was to teach the people who took part the value of exercise and the principles involved such as perseverance, focus, and discipline.”

As this was his first training camp, he was a bit disappointed by the number of people who took part, but he is confident that the number will grow as more people realise the benefits of exercise.

He explains the camp was not only aimed at benefitting the community, but also to keep fit, improve his own running skills, and help him prepare for the races he plans to compete in this year.

“I plan to enter several races this year and I seized the opportunity to train while helping the community.

“I plan to be in tip-top shape for the Mall of the North Race, the Polokwane Mayoral Race, and the City to City Race among others on the athletic calendar this year,” he says enthusiastically.
