Phaphama, Defenders share the spoils

Phaphama All Stars shared a point each with Mabila Home Defenders on Saturday during the SAB/MMK administrator Safa Vhembe Region Stream I league match played at Phaphama sportsground in Ha-Makuya village.

LIMPOPO – Home Defenders played a couple of matches without collecting any points.

All Stars kicked off the match giving all the pressure to the weak defence of Home Defenders.

The captain of Phaphama All Stars, Ntsieni Mudau, drove the ball in the middle of the field, pressuring the defence.

Home Defenders soon realised their defence weakness and substituted Tshedza Shandukani with Mukovhe Dagada within the first 15 minutes of the match.

The move seemed to have worked.

A goal from range by Oscious Maluga, who received a through pass from an incredible dribble by Defenders captain, Rinae Maluga, found the team leading the match by a goal to zero in the 30th minute of the first half.

After a mistake from the Defenders’ left back, Tshivenda Negondeni equalised the score and added time through a goal by Nelukau Rudzani.

The match went to half time at 1-1.

The first 11 of Mabila Home Defenders.

Ntsieni Mudau of All Stars soon became a problem for Defenders as the team started to dominate the second half of the match.

That, however, didn’t stop Alton Mabila from giving Defenders a lead as he scored in the 70th minute.

Fans and defenders of Mabila Home Defenders were left astonished as Ntsieni Mudau of Phaphama All Stars scored an equalising goal in the 76th minute.

“It was a tough game but we managed to draw with our opponents.

“To be skilful and amazing on the field you need a lot of practice and training which is the secret to my success in soccer. Hard work bears fruit,” said Mudau after the match.

Defenders’ Maluga admitted that Mudau was on par during the game and wished him the best in his career.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw which resulted in both teams receiving one point each.
