Leopards beat Magesi 4-1

Black Leopards coach, Jean-Francois Losciuto, said he will celebrate with his family if his team beats Pretoria University at Tuks Stadium this afternoon (Wednesday).

LIMPOPO -Losciuto said this shortly after Lidoda Duvha walloped Magesi FC in the Limpopo derby played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. The main players behind Leopard’s victory was Mwape Musonda who scored a brace and Marks Munyai who sealed the score sheet to make it 4-1.

Leopards were ahead with two goals to nil at halftime.

In the second half, Leopards’ fire was nearly doused when Magesi striker, Mapaulo Maphusha, sent a good cross from Thembi Nevhulamba into the net to make the score 2-1.

The dimension of the match changed completely when Magesi pressured the homeside, eager to level the tally. Magesi tried to eaqualised within 20 minutes of the second half but Leopards keeper Rotshidzwa Muleka denied them the chance.

A scramble in the Magesi box left Musonda turning with a cracker that found the back of the net in the 63rd minute to make the tally 3-1.

Just five minutes before the end of the match, Marks Munyai connected the ball from a corner kick and tapped it into the net bringing the score to 4-1.

Losciuto said it was a tough match because Magesi needed three points in order to move away from the borderline of the National First Division (NFD) log.

Magesi coach, Shepherd Murape, said they played well but the players’ lack of experience cost them the match.

He said Black Leopards has experienced players and the team has played in the NFD for a long time. “They have top class players. During the interval, I told my players to be comfortable with the ball and express themselves which resulted in the heavier pressure on Leopards’ defence.

My injured goalkeeper, Rendani Maduwa will be off the pitch until we finish the remaining matches due to the seriousness of the injury,” said Morape.

When asked if he was still confident his team will escape relegation, Morape said it will depend on the results of other teams.
