Bullseye for dart players
After a competitive day of trials among local dart players, the Capricorn Darts Association on Saturday announced its district teams for the upcoming inter-district tournament scheduled for June.
POLOKWANE -Along with the regional teams, this association also announced its Polokwane teams to participate in this inter-district event.
According to Susan van Jaarsveldt, Public Relations Officer of Capricon Darts Association, the districts competing at this inter-district event in Louis Trichardt will be Capricorn, Polokwane, Vhembe and Makhado. The Mimosa Limpopo Dart Club is one of the dart clubs in the city and as they are not funded by the government, they are in need of sponsors.
Darts, just like any other sport, is largely reliant on sponsors in order to enable the players to take part in tournaments and competitions. Limpopo Darts Association Secretary, Susan van Jaarsveldt, said the Mimosa Limpopo Darts Club has an array of talented players who struggle to keep the province and their club’s names high at national competitions due to limited funding.
“All the costs when players need to compete in other provinces come from our own pocket which all too often mean they have to miss out on golden opportunities due to financial constraints. We have outstanding players at our club but they need support to shine,” Susan said.
