Gymstar gymnasts go all out for gold
The rhythmic gymnasts from Gymstars Gymnastic Club once again confirmed their reputation as one of the best gymnastics schools in the city when they competed in the level 1-3 South African Gymnastic Federation Team Trophy.
POLOKWANE – The event took place on 20 May and was also a Limpopo qualifier.
Gymstars collected a large number of awards at this competition.
The Gymstars teams placed second overall in level 1, first overall in level 2 and third overall in level 3.
“Not only did all the teams deliver overall placings, but Monica Harmse achieved the highest average of the day of all the level 2 gymnasts. Our 30 gymnasts brought home a total of 10 gold medals, 13 silver medals and seven bronze medals and 27 qualified for the Limpopo team,” explained a delighted Lelanie Logtenberg, head coach and owner of Gymstars.
The overall winners are:
• Level 1 u/8 – Tshimollo Monyemoratho
• Level 2 u/9 – Saromé du Plessis
• Level 2 u/11 – Monica Harmse
• Level 2 over 11 – Cornia Claassens
Overall second place:
• Level 2 u/8 – Ané Matthews
• Level 3 u/9 – Nika Oosthuizen
“The next competition for these gymnasts to prove their skills, is the South African championships in Gauteng, on 24 and 25 June, and I am confident that my girls will not disappoint,” Lelanie declared
