Wolkberg Tournament celebrates 46 years
Local bowlers joined in celebrating yet another Wolkberg Mixed Fours Bowls Tournament when they embarked on a trip to Modjadjiskloof to show off their bowling skills.
POLOKWANE – The 46th Wolkberg Tournament took place at the Duiwelskloof Bowling Club on Saturday 1 July, and Sunday 2 July, in Modjadjiskloof. A total of 28 teams of fours entered this prestigious annual competition with cash prize money totalling R21 000.
Winners:
• First place Wolkberg winners of R10 000 and camping chairs from Old Mutual-Marriot – Tony Crofford, Billy Hobson, Lynn Crofford, Gert Brits (Old Mutual/Marriot) and Sandy Dreyer.
• Second place Wolkberg winners of R5 000 from Mooketsi Transport and blankets from Marriot – Fanie Otto, Ben Groenewald, Loureth Otto, Di de Wet (President Duiwelskloof Bowls Club) and Annemarie van der Merwe.
• Third place Wolkberg winners of R3 000 from Trophy Toyota Motors – Gareth Lambert, Annemarie Calitz, Danielle Hyde (Trophy Toyota Motors), Gary Blakemore and Aggie Ascenco.
Plate winners of R3 000 were:
• Rex and Lesley Goulding, Hennie and Antoinette Botha and Di de Wet (President Duiwelskloof Bowls Club).
• William Cliengen, Carine and Frans Chadwick, Peet Jordan and Di de Wet (President Duiwelskloof Bowls Club).
• Nico and Jonel Hudson, Robbie and Nellie Pretorius and Di de Wet (President Duiwelskloof Bowls Club).
• Stone last and winners of a bunch of carrots were Freek Stroop, Johan Benade, Rosemary Atherstone and Gert Britz.
• The Raffle hamper was won by Don Johnstone.
• The Eiland ATKV prize was won by Gareth Lambert.
• The Mownana Game Farm prize was won by Carine Chadwick.
• The Bar Ticket Draw was won by Hendrik van der Linden.
• The Spider prize was won by Suzette Johnstone.
