Impalas overpower Eastern Province in first game of CSA Rural Week

There was no holding back when the Limpopo Impala Cricket team took on Eastern Province in their first match of the national tournament.

POLOKWANE – The match is the first in the 2018 Cricket South Africa (CSA) Rural Week which is currently taking place in Mpumalanga.

Due to wet weather, the game was reduced to a T20 and the Impalas had their game faces on.

Winning the toss, Eastern Province decided to bat first and it was a move which seemed to gear up the Impala players as they took their first two wickets in just two overs.

More strikes from the Limpopo bowlers left Eastern Province with just 30 runs for six wickets and down to their last batsman in the 16th over.

Eastern Province could only manage 93 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs, a total the Impala team quickly reached, getting 94 runs for only five wickets.

The Impalas won the game with five wickets in hand.

Best bowlers for the day were Ruann Willemse, Isaac Senetla and Don Radebe.
