Kickboxers kick up a storm at Clash of the Dragons

Kickboxers from the Limpopo Province Sport Karate-Kickboxing Academy (LPSKKA) participated in the Clash of the Dragons karate competition at the N.G. Kerk Renosterpoort in Ladanna.

POLOKWANE – Sensei Nico Myburgh Snr says he is extremely proud of the 22 kickboxers who obtained 22 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals at the tournament.

“After almost two years without competing, our kickboxers remained focused, committed and dedicated to attend practice when it was necessary, and it all paid off.

“What an exciting experience it was for all the newcomers as well, especially during the difficult time we all experienced. They had no idea what to expect but did extremely well. They are all potential champions indeed and I’m very proud of them,” Nico said.

He told Polokwane Observer the older and experienced kickboxers had to work harder, but performed well above average.

LPSKKA perform martial arts and stand-up combat styles based on kicking and punching, historically developed from karate, Thai boxing and western boxing.

The classes are practiced for self-defence, general fitness and as a contact sport. LPSKKA classes last about 90 minutes and they are designed to be fun and challenging workouts for all fitness levels for both women and men.

“We would like to thank the LPSKKA parents for their continued support as always. We also salute sensei Annatjie de Jager from the Yin-Yang Karate and Self Defense Studio and her team for a well-organised tournament,” Nico said.
