Vodacom Bulls to host Griquas in Polokwane this week

The much anticipated match is scheduled for a 18:00 kick-off and forms part of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture's Mapungubwe Rugby Cup.

POLOKWANE – The Peter Mokaba Stadium will be a hive of activity on Wednesday evening when it hosts United Rugby Championship finalists the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Griquas Rugby Club.

The much anticipated match is scheduled for a 18:00 kick-off and forms part of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s Mapungubwe Rugby Cup aimed at promoting social cohesion and nation building.

Local rugby clubs Westax Rugby Club from Westerburg and Noordelikes Rugby Club will lock horns in a curtain raiser match billed for 15:00.

Sports, Arts and Culture spokesperson Jermina Kaka said the initiative seeks to promote creative and cultural diversity, healthy and active living and more importantly the growth of rugby as a critical sport development code in the province.

“The goal is to foster a more inclusive, harmonious and socially cohesive society. Apart from the rugby matches, the event will include various forms of entertainment, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for all participants,” Kaka said.

Tickets are sold at R50 for children and R100 for adults at Computicket.

“No coolers will be allowed at the stadium,” she said.
