Polokwane City FC player makes national squad

Bafana Bafana has included City FC defender Thabang Matuludi in the line up for the Confederation of Southern African Football tournament.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane City Football Club star defender Thabang Matuludi has been included in the national soccer team for the Confederation of Southern African Football (Cosafa) tournament scheduled for July.

Matuludi becomes the second player from Polokwane City to make it to the national team after his teammate Oswin Appollis, who was part of the South African African Cup of Nations (Afcon) team.

Tincy Tema, chief operations officer of the club said Matuludi’s inclusion in the national team will open doors for other players in the team.

“He is one of the best performing players in the team and has shown that it is possible with hard work. Just like many players he had a good season helping the team to finish in the top bracket. He has been a stalwart in the defence and we wish him well in the national team. He will definitely do well.”

Tema confirmed that all the players will report to camp this week ahead of the Premier Soccer League season which starts in August.

“We gave them a month-long break and we will start with our preparations this week. It is important for us to start with the preparations early as we will be participating in the top tournament. Our aim is to do well.”
