Northern Academy: pupils make history

Two learners from Curro Northern Academy College received Limpopo colours in rugby and netball and represented the province in national tournaments during the recent school holiday.

POLOKWANE – Two learners from Curro Northern Academy College received Limpopo colours in rugby and netball and represented the province in national tournaments during the recent school holiday.

They were also the only learners in their school to receive provincial colours for these two items, with history being made as Dicky Ramasobana was the first-ever learner of the college to receive provincial colours.

Dicky played for Limpopo’s u/18 academy team, which competed in Vereeniging, where they played three games. They won one match against the Falcons from Gauteng.

Dicky, who plays wing, said he learnt a lot from this experience, which he would carry forward into the future. However, he added that the games were tough, but enjoyable.

Mohuba Mogano received Limpopo colours for the u/17 netball team known as the Mopani team, which competed at the South African All Ages Netball Tournament in the u/17 category in Boksburg.

Of the seven games played, Mogano and her team managed to win three. The Mopani team was ranked 15th overall out of the 22 teams.

The other u/17 Limpopo team, Marula, was ranked sixth overall.
