POLOKWANE – Stanford Lake College (SLC) boys senior cricket team battled it out against Hoërskool Ben Vorster during the National Schools Pro20 League cricket match held at the SLC’s sport grounds on Friday.

Stanford Lake College won the toss and chose to field first. Their bowlers were well disciplined and kept the run rate down. Adam McGaffin took two wickets and, a good spell by Jason Wright restricted the visitors to 146/2 in 20 overs.

Knowing they would have to bat well and build good partnerships to win the game, Stanford Lake College put up a good opening stand from Graeme Harty (38 runs), and Estian Botha (25 runs) who scored at better than a run-a-ball, putting them in a good position to play offensively.

Justyn Trueman (22 runs) and Benno Prinsloo (42 not out) took the game away from Ben Vorster.

Stanford Lake College won the game in excellent style by seven wickets.

It was certainly one of the better performances by the first team this year in that the Ben Vorster team has dominated their recent matches.

SLC’s management gave the team a thumbs-up sign for the great performance and wished the players best of luck with future endeavours.
