International scouts return to look for talent in Limpopo

A group of talent scouts will return to Limpopo on October 18 and October 19 to give local talent the opportunity to show what they’ve got to offer.

Auditions will be held at:

• Piet Potgieter High School (Mokopane) on October 18 from 14:00 to 17:00.

• Laerskool Pietersburg (Polokwane) on October 19 from 08:00 to 12:00.

• Louis Trichardt Primary school (Louis Trichardt) on October 19 from 14:00 to 17:00.

In August, many young talented artists and models attended Scouts South Africa auditions in Polokwane. Auditions were held for models, actors, dancers and singers. Young talent from all over Limpopo flocked to the auditioning hall for a chance at international exposure.

“It was such a surprise to see so much talent coming from Limpopo,” says Sya van der Walt from Scouts South Africa.

“They excelled in all the categories, but I was particularly impressed with the dancers and actors.”

The Scouts South Africa project allows young people to showcase their talents beyond South Africa’s borders.

Singers, models, actors and dancers are invited to enter Scouts South Africa auditions and stand the chance to receive an all-expenses paid trip to Orlando, Florida in the US in July 2014.

A lucky few will be selected from those who have registered and attended nationwide auditions. They will attend one of the most prestigious international conventions where more than 80 of the world’s top agents and management groups gather to look for their next star.

Agencies represented include ABC, VH1, Walt Disney, Sony BMG, Sweetheart Records New York City, Elite Models, Discover Management Los Angeles, Capital Records and Cinq Deux Un from Tokyo, Japan.

“We also want to provide those not going through to the final round the opportunity to gain more experience and to practise their craft locally. We are currently working on providing such a platform,” says Van der Walt.
