Bikers call for safety

SAPA Yopa Motorcycle Club is appealing to motorists to respect bikers on the road to avoid accidents.

The plea comes after a spate of motorcycle accidents that claimed the lives of a number of bikers in recent weeks.

Sapa Yopa president, Sarel Nong says the club is worried about the accidents involving bikers and they appeal to motorists to respect road signs.

He also acknowledged that some of the accidents are caused by a lack of biking experience under bikers. “The club is doing all we can to make sure there are measures in place to encourage bikers to exercise responsibility on the road,” said Sarel.

“We are concerned that all these accidents are giving bikers a bad name, portraying biking as dangerous. We want to change this perception by teaching bikers to be responsible,” he said.

The club recently lost a club member, Richard Nkoana, in an accident.
