Glitz, glamour, hair and fashion made up the 18th Prom Nite on Friday.

POLOKWANE – Glitz, glamour, hair and fashion made up the 18th Prom Nite on Friday.

About 100 gr. 12 learners from various high schools in the city had the opportunity to show off their matric farewell outfits again.

According to Dia van Staden, the organiser of Prom Nite, the event was held to honour the designers and hair dressers that work so hard to make the learners look beautiful.

The judges were Melinda van Rooyen, Rianda Bloem and Willie Venter.

The categories included style guys, style girls, style couple, originality guys, originality girls and originality couples.

Winners:

• Style guys: Maarten Brits. His outfit was designed by Amanda Goosen.

• Style girls: Universe Mabase. Her dress was designed by Vanilla Boutique.

• Style couple: Sumari Hall and Tiaan Nel.

• Originality guys: Levy Marobane with a suit from The Groom.

• Originality girls: Ethel Mafala in a dress by Mama Tumi.

• Originality couple: Benjamin Chunga and Kgoagelo Matlala.

There was also a dance competition that Werner Coetzee and Sasha-Lee Willemse won.

They had three minutes to dance three dance styles.

Dané Fourie was crowned Prom Queen, while Moreng Mphahlele was crowned Prom King.

Dancers from Jolene’s Acrobats entertained the crowd during the intervals.

This was not only the 18th Prom Nite, but the last one to be organised by Dia. Next year’s Prom Nite will be organised by Alta Viljoen.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for me and I wish Alta the best of luck,” said Dia.

“The evening was a big success, thank you to all the participants,” said Dia.
