‘Individuals in the ANC want to see me dead’ – Malema

TUMI Mokoena, the attorney of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commander-in-chief, Julius Malema, says he is very disappointed with the state’s decision to postpone the case against his client to September 30 next year.
Mokoena said he was hoping that the national director of public prosecutions (NDPP) was ready to withdraw the charges, but instead they had used administrative excuses to delay the case.
“Prosecutors asked the court for more time so the NDPP could apply his mind to the voluminous representations made by Malema’s defence team. There is nothing we can do, lets wait until the NDPP is finished with the paperwork. We want Malema’s cases withdrawn,” Mokoena said.
Addressing thousands of his followers shortly after his court appearance last week, Malema said the case was a political persecution for holding different views. Malema said he believed that prosecutors and the judges would not be influenced by politicians.
“I believe in the judicial system, but my problem is that those who fired me from the ANC still control the system,” he said.
“We know who is in charge of the NPA and Sars. They want me to be loyal to an individual, so that they will call me a good man and I can’t do that.
“Why did they sell my farm, houses and other properties? There is a minister in the ANC government who also served in the National Party regime. They killed the people, but no one is persecuting him. I didn’t kill, but individuals in the ANC want to see me dead,” he said.
“There is someone in the ANC who has a tendency to kill people. He also killed fellow comrades in exile and he knows where he buried them.
“Now he wants to kill me. Let’s stand up and defend ourselves,” he said.
“Young people are educated but they are unemployed because positions in government are shared among girlfriends. I feel pity for those calling themselves ‘born free’. There is no born free who is still living in poverty. There are people in the ruling party who sold this land on the table. You must get your own farm and till the land. “Now is the time for black people to unity and fight the white minority,” he said.
“Winnie Madikizela Mandela is the only comrade in the ANC who refused to be bribed by the white minority. She is the mother of the nation and deserves to be president of the country just to honour her.”
