Outlining the purpose of the awards, Makananisa said: “The Fame awards recognise the talent in different arts, including traditional music and local film offered by the widely talented artists of Limpopo, some of whom are household names in their own rights. But most importantly, these awards will assist in the unearthing of new talent. The awards will also put indigenous cultural entertainment of Limpopo on the world map. It is important to note that this has never happened in Limpopo before. We are hoping to sustain this project for many years to come”.
