Maria Lebo Mokgobu, the 20-year-old woman who pretended to be a cardiologist, was found guilty of fraud and sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Polokwane Regional Court yesterday (Wednesday).
Limpopo Hawks Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke indicated that Mokgobu had been charged with forgery, fraud and utterance of medical qualification for employment after she was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Unit. She was arrested while attending a job interview at the Department of Health in June last year.
Mokgobu was found in possession of fraudulent medical qualifications and investigations also revealed that she does not even have a matric certificate.
