Interim Chief Executive Officer of Limpopo Tourism Agency, Bibi Kotsedi has congratulated local tour guide, Isaiah Banda for scooping the Tourist Guide of the Year Award in the subcategory for culture at the national Lilizela Awards held in Gauteng recently.
The award was presented by Minister of Tourism, Thokozile Xasa and her deputy, Elizebeth Thabethe. Banda, the head guide at a game lodge in the Waterberg area, is no stranger to being acknowledged for his exceptional guiding skills and know-how. In 2014, after winning the provincial Nature Guide of the Year, he was nominated for a Lilizela Award in the same category and in 2016 he was a runner-up.
Kotsedi congratulated Banda for being a good ambassador and trendsetter for others in the province. “He did us proud, he has raised the bar and standard of tour guides in the province. He has shown commitment and proved to the whole nation that we have capable tour guides,” Kotsedi said.
The Lilizela Tourism Awards, the leading tourism awards programme in South Africa, celebrate and reward excellence in the tourism industry and recognise businesses and people who provide world class service, playing a key role in growing our country as an exceptional tourist destination.
The culture subcategory gives recognition to tourist guides that excel in their profession.
