House artist dreams of following in her idols’ footprints

With house music idols like Bucie and Monique Beningham, Koketso Kay Cee Comfort Makhubele has big dreams of making her mark on the industry.

POLOKWANE – The 23-year-old from Mokopane is a part-time house musician and vocalist and is in the final year of her electrical engineering studies at the Tshwane university of Technology.

“I have always had a passion for house music and I admired, and envied, house artists for their ability to sing and dance so flawlessly. As I am still young, the songs I write are mainly about young people who enjoy socialising and having fun with others. My house music idols inspire and motivate me to continue pursuing my passion which is singing and entertaining people. it would be amazing if I could one day share the stage with Bucie.”

Kay Cee said she has learnt a lot from the seven years of experience she has in the industry and learned how to work hard at her own pace.

“Success means different things to everyone but hard work and persistence remain the key factors to achieving greatness. One of the things I have learnt is that as an artist you should always know how to think on your feet and continue to work on your craft as the entertainment industry is constantly evolving. You need to keep up with the latest trends so you are not left behind or miss out on anything.”

She is part of a band in Lephalale, Matshepo Band, and has done some backup singing for well-known gospel artist, Lebo-k. “Music brings me joy and happiness, it is something I thoroughly enjoy and want to be involved with as long as possible.”
