Young Beauty Queen aims to change lives

POLOKWANE – Miss Limpopo Finalist, Priscilla Ramalatsa from Seshego Zone 4 says is often happens that orphans or children who live in orphanages, do not get to enjoy childhood as they are limited to certain social activities.
Having participated in several beauty pageants including being crowned Miss Seshego 2015, she says she learned the importance of using one’s title to change the lives of those around you.
“Beauty pageants are not all about looking pretty and walking down the ramp. Holding the reigning titles comes with a lot of responsibilities and requires one to think and be creative in ways which will help the community to grow and develop. I have been modelling for as long as I can remember. My mum tells me that I used to just walk around in town with a home made sash and crown pretending to be a queen, hence the nickname ‘Queen’ which has stuck with me until today. I used to play Masebotsana a lot, beauty pageants when I was young and I never missed a beauty pageant competition on television,” she explained.
The 24-year-old aspiring queen is set to host a fashion show for the children currently living at Polokwane Place of Safety, on 30 November in a bid to afford them an opportunity to partake in fun activities which will boost their overall self confidence as well as their self esteem.
“I have teamed up local fashion designers who have agreed to lend some of their signature clothes to use in the show. The children will be modelling the clothes themselves and I will be giving them tips and advice on how to walk the ramp and carry themselves as they present the different clothes. Under my modelling foundation, Your Highness Modelling Foundation, I am to also help young girls and boys who want to engage and enter the fashion and modelling industry, equipping them with the right skills and knowledge that they need to make it as professionals in this highly competitive industry. I will also be motivating them with positive words which will encourage them and inspire them to work hard to achieve goals which they set for themselves,” she explained.
