Sfudi created Kha Vhude to meet the needs of his social circle

Sello Morwasehla says the idea to create a clothing brand has always been at the back of his mind, but the execution was not so clear.

POLOKWANE – Sello Morwasehla, better known as Sfudi, is an entrepreneur who started his own clothing brand to meet the needs of his social circle.

When the term ‘Kha vhude’ (roughly translated to ‘bring it on, bring the beer’) first started making the rounds on social media, he thought of a way to make it stick. Sello is the owner of the clothing brand, Kha Vhude, which offers T-shirts, caps, vests as well as car stickers to clients.

Sello studied business management at Vhembe TVET college’s Makwarela campus. The entrepreneur at heart always had bigger plans when he went to study.

“I initially wanted to study something else, but I thought business management would be better suited as I never intended to work for an employer.” Sello started his clothing brand in 2018 and the first order he made flew off the racks. “When I told people the T-shirts were available, I could not believe my luck as all of them were sold in a couple of hours.”

Sello went from printing two T-shirts daily to now having orders of 20 T-shirts or more on a weekly basis. He says Kha Vhude does not have a specific target market, as it is suitable for people from all walks of life.

“I also offer my clients tailor-made items and I make sure that your item is made to your specifications.”

Sello says finances were a very big challenge in the establishment of his business but he managed to get help from one of his friends, Lelo Mtsweni.

“I am very grateful to Lelo, who is more like a brother to me, for giving my idea a chance. The growth of the business is purely based on his support.” Sello says some of the plans in the pipeline for Kha Vhude includes the launch of a summer collection and the transition from printing on the items to embroidery. “I want to give my customers value for their money and the only way to achieve this is to embroid on the items. This way the lifespan can be increased.”
