A new home for the Chauke family

LIMPOPO – The Chauke family from Makhasa village outside Malamulele in Collins Chabane Municipality were overjoyed when Midey Group handed over a house to them on Saturday.

The ceremony was attended by the Chauke family, community members, and the local chief. The Chauke family were victims of the tropical cyclone, Eloise, that severely affected the Vhembe district. The family received a one roomed house and groceries.

Constencia Chauke, a mother of two, thanked Midey Group for their generosity. “We are so lucky to have a new house donated by Midey Group. It was difficult for us to sleep after the house was destroyed by the cyclone. They noticed me during an interview I did on national television, I was wearing a Midey Group mask. We are very thankful to these good Samaritans who came to our rescue,” she said.

Sabina Chauke said that she will never forget what Midey Group has done for them. “The two delicate mud houses were not enough for all of us, and now we have a place to stay, thanks to Midey Group.” The family is thrilled about the new living conditions.

“At first we didn’t think that they will keep their promise, but they proved us wrong and we thank them for the house they built for us,” said Sabina.

Midey Group’s CEO, Fhulufhelo Ogunrinde, said she is very proud to have impacted a family’s lives for the better. “We were very saddened to see the condition of the house the family were staying in after the cyclone hit, and we knew the chances of Constencia rebuilding the house were slim as she was not working. When I helped the Chauke family, it wasn’t because I needed something in return, I did it from the bottom of my heart,” said Ogunrinde.

She added Midey Group has adopted two learners from Litshani vhana Vhade Foundation in Muledane. “As a business woman, I felt indebted to the learners and thought of ploughing back into the community that support Midey Group. The learners are now Midey Group’s responsibility on an educational level,” she said.
