Kipkoech wins Sasol 42.2km race

SECUNDA – C. Kipkoech from Nedbank Running Club won the 42.2km of Sasol Marathon Club’s race on Saturday, 14 February.

Kipkoech finished the race in 2:25,45.

Athletes took off at 6am on Saturday morning from the Sasol Recreation Club and got support from the water points along the way.

S. Ncube from Mr Price Running Club finished second with a time of 2:26,32, L. Hlatswayo of Nedbank came third with a time of 2:29,19, B. Msimango, also from Nedbank, finished fourth with a time of 2:33,11 and L. Sithole of Nkangala finished fifth with a time of 2:44,37.

P. Mthethwa from the Baberton Gijimas finished sixth with a time of 2:45,51, M. Sibiya from ACRW finished seventh with a time of 2:45,59, A. Moagi from the SAPS finished eighth with a time of 2:54,41, N. Mtimkulu from Secunda Marathon Club finished ninth with a time of 2:58,20.

P. Quinsee from Born 2 Run was the first woman to cross the finish line and was 11th overall with a time of 2:57,44.

E. Malaza from Anglo American was 12th with a time of 3:00,16, G. Senong from Zoom Zoom finished 13th with a time of 3:00,24, D. Wheeler from Fourways finished 14th with a time of 3:01,44 and D. Donald from Anglo American finished in 15th with a time of 3:02,32.

In the 21.1km race, A. Thantsikwayo from Midack was the first one to cross the finish line and finished the race with a time of 1:9,23.

M. Nkabinde finished second with a time of 1:12,1, D. Zwane from Anglo American finished third with a time of 1:14,40, T. Manana from Mpuma AC finished fourth with a time of 1:14,15, S. Sibisi from SAPS finished fourth with a time of 1:15,29, J. Mthombeni of Anglo American finished fifth with a time of 1:15,31, F. Mogabe of Remmogo finished sixth with a time of 1:18,41, P. Pula from Nedbank finished seventh with a time of 1:19,54, M. Vilikazi of Sasol Marathon Club finished eighth with a time of 1:20,24, L. Simelane finished ninth with a time of 1:20,57 and J. Maabane from Anglo American finished 10th with a time of 1:21,48.

P. Mkhwanazi of Nedbank was the winner of the 10km race and his time was 33 min, 1 sec.

J. Hipe from Nkangala finished second with a time of 34 min, 22 sec, S. Mkhatwa from Standerton Marathon Club finished third with a time of 35 min 56 sec, J. Mtsweni finished fourth with a time of 37 min, 14 sec and S. Nkosi finished fifth with a time of 37 min 15 sec.

S. Ndelelo finished sixth with a time of 38 min 4 sec, S. Maisa from Anglo American finished seventh with a time of 39 min, 30 sec, L. Zwane finished eighth with a time of 41 min 42 sec, P. Mathebula from Msukaligwa finished ninth with a time of 41 min 47 sec and B. Nkosi from Nkangala finished 10th with a time of 41 min, 49 sec.
