SECUNDA – The Govan Mbeki Municipality shared knowledge and information with Kisumu County, Kenya, delegates recently.

The delegation visited the municipality as part of a study tour itinerary to South Africa on 29 April.

Dr Johan Leibbrandt, Director Advisory Price Waterhouse Coopers, said the purpose of the study tour was to learn from the South African local government transformation.

Kisumu County is the third largest county in Kenya and is located in Nyanza and constitutes seven constituencies, namely Kisumu East, Kisumu West, Kisumu Central, Seme, Nyando, Muhoroni and Nyakach.

The delegation’s visit was focusing specifically on the following:

• The transformational process and the roadmap followed;

• The reviewing and redrafting of the new Integrated Development Planning (IDP) in 2012;

• The alignment and review of the organisational structure;

• The alignment of the IDP, budgeting and performance management; and

• The culture change towards urgency and implementation.
