Resident donates plants
A local resident donated plants to Winnifred Maboa Clinic on 2 July.
Mr Absalon Maseko donated plants to Winnifred Maboa Clinic on 2 July.
He planted the plants in front of the clinic and wants to ensure that there are sustainable gardens with beautiful plants.
Mr Maseko is determined about giving back to the community.
“I would like more people to help me to plant different plants and to keep the facility clean,” he said.
A group of women volunteered to take care of the garden.
He also encouraged residents to have vegetable gardens.
Another group of women have a garden at Msimango Clinic and they share the vegetables among themselves.
Mr Maseko also said patients with tuberculosis and HIV/Aids should also be part of taking care of these vegetable gardens.
He quoted the South African National Tuberculosis Association (Santa) that said that a poor diet is one of the main contributors of the disease.
He said the patients should be empowered and clients should be taught treatment management skills.
Mr Maseko will donate more plants to the facility.
