eMBALENHLE – Grade 7 pupils from Buyani Primary School were dressed according to the careers they would like to take after finishing school.
Some gave speeches about what inspired them to choose their careers.
A pupil said she prays that what is happening at the universities will be resolved soon.
Some of the pupils’ careers were civil engineering, teaching, paediatric, journalism, doctors and becoming the president of karate.
Mr Dan Vilakazi, curriculum implementer for career development said they are trying to give pupils as much exposure as they can, especially at primary schools level.
Guest speakers were from various fields, such as police, traffic officers, bricklayers, journalists, nurses and social workers.
The main speaker was Mr Wongama Tengela, a remote sensing technologist at the South African National Space Agency.
“I am surprised by the knowledge these pupils already have and have no doubt that the high school you will attend will get good quality pupils,” said Mr Tengela.
He also confirmed that he will make sure that the relationship between the South African National Space Agency and schools is sustained.
Buyani Primary School’s principal, Ms Nontuthuzelo Mvanano, thanked the guest speakers for encouraging the pupils.
