Police urged the public to not fall prey to a fake prophet who is operating in the area.
They said the man targets random people who are carrying luggage, handbags and laptop bags and claim that he is seeing a vision about them.
He predicts their future and tells them to go to an isolated place to pray.
On arrival at the place, the victims are told to get out of the car and to leave everything in the man’s car.
Capt Busi Mthethwa, police spokesman, said the man tells victims to pray and then to go to a crossroad and listen for a voice that will say “no more tears”.
“When they do as they are told, the man flees with their personal belongings.
“We are calling on the community to not trust strangers.”
Several cases have been opened and the police are investigating.
