STANDERTON – The police and Kasselman Security Services are warning farmers of livestock to be vigilant and prepared for a spike in stock theft over Easter.
Cattle and sheep are not only stolen and sold at auctions. A large number are also slaughtered and supplied to bush butcheries in rural areas.
“We are pleading with owners to brand their animals. Farmers are also requested to herd the animals or appoint a shepherd to look after them.
“This is to prevent the animals from going astray roaming into roads and oncoming traffic.
“Be vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or movement in your area.”
