eMZINONI – Local police have arrested a resident for defying the 21-day lockdown regulation of staying home.
According to the police, the suspect was spotted in various streets moving around for no reason.
Police said the resident was checking which area the police are patrolling and then moved to the area the police have passed.
Sgt Cynthia Mtshweni, police spokesman, said the suspect was apprehended and taken to the holding cells.
She said police will arrest everyone who is breaking the law.
“Currently the situation is calm, It is not yet 100 per cent compliance as there are still people moving around.
“However, we are patrolling the area to ensure that people comply to the regulations.”
Police urged locals to stay home.
