The seminar was aimed at mentoring young girls in realising their potential.

eMBALENHLE – Raising a Girl Child, a community organisation, continues to empower young girls to discover their identity and to stand firm against abuse.

The organisation recently held their first seminar for the year at the eMbalenhle Sasol Club where several speakers from various government organisations, such as police and social development, told the girls how they can fight abuse.

The girls were also enlightened on how they can discover their identity and to develop a strong personality.

Raising a Girl Child is aimed at mentoring young girls in realising their potential.

The goal is to equip girls with various skills, such as confidence, resilience and leadership.

Ms Miliswa Nhlapho, the founder, said: “There are so many reports of bullying at schools and sexual abuse. This is why we thought we should teach girls about these subjects.”

“Young girls are facing many challenges and we should equip them with the necessary information.”
