The murder case of a reaction officer of Kasselman Security Services (KSS) was postponed to 25 May.
According to Standerton Magistrate’s Court, the docket was sent to the Regional Court.
This follows the death of Mr Themba Mashiloane, who was wounded in a housebreaking incident in Paarl Street, Standerton on 28 December last year.
According to KSS, the officer responded to an alarm early the morning and found an open window, with the burglar bars removed.
The officer entered the premises through the window and noticed an intruder inside the house.
KSS said an attack, with a sharp object, was directed at the officer and the officer shot at him.
Emergency personnel and Standerton Police were later at the scene.
The communications officer of the police, W/O Nkosinati Khanyile, said on 7 January that the late Mr Mashiloane was treated at the Witbank Hospital.
He succumbed to his injuries.
The KSS-officer was arrested and formally charged with murder on 30 December last year and remanded in custody.
He initially appeared in court where bail was denied and the case postponed to 4 January. Bail to the amount of R3 000 was granted at his next court appearance.
After the court hearing on Wednesday 17 March, it was postponed once again.
According to information, the results of the post mortem are not yet available.
