The formal announcement of an administrator for the Lekwa Municipality did not materialise the past week.
According to a trustworthy source, a meeting was scheduled at the Standerton Town Hall for Wednesday, 2 June beginning at 2pm.
National Treasury sent a letter to the municipal manager, Ms Gugulethu Ntshangase-Mhlongo, in which the dissolution of the council and appointment of an administrator were confirmed.
On a legal level, section 139 (5) (a) and (b) of the Constitution, read together with section 146 (3) of the Municipal Finance Management, comes into effect.
A document in possession of the newspaper scheduled a political meeting with ex-councillors from 2pm to 3.45pm, followed by a session with the municipal administration and labour department until 5.30pm.
Councillors were advised that they are no longer entitled to allowances, tools of trade or any other benefits associated with their positions.
A note of warning was given that any deviation from the above, will result in measures against the municipal management, specifically the municipal manager.
The meeting was rescheduled to Monday, 7 June.
